Devin Haney on Teofimo Lopez: 'I don't like him, he's a f—ing cornball'DAZN
The WBC lightweight champion made his feelings known when it came to former unified champion Teofimo Lopez.

The eyes of the boxing world remain focused on the lightweight division with Devin Haney defending his WBC world lightweight title against mandatory challenger Joseph 'Jo Jo' Diaz Jr. this coming Saturday in Las Vegas.

Following George Kambosos Jr.'s shock win over the now former unified champion Teofimo Lopez last weekend on DAZN, Haney is potentially one win away from landing an undisputed fight with the Australian.

When it came to discussing Lopez on the latest instalment of DAZN's Off the Cuff, Haney expressed his strong dislike towards the 24-year-old and insisted the duo's heated exchange ringside during Mikey Garcia's loss to Sandor Martin in October was not staged.

“I don’t like Teofimo Lopez,” Haney said.

“Nah it wasn’t acting; I want to make the fight happen.

"I don’t like him, he’s a f—g cornball, the dude is weird, I think there’s something wrong with him."

Haney is a fighter who often comes under fire for the lack of steller names on his 26-fight record, but the American believes during the past few years when boxing has been rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic, he has the best resume in the lightweight division.

"This year, in the lightweight division, I’ve got the best resume, nobody has fought tougher opposition on paper than me," Haney claimed.

'The Dream' also couldn't resist criticising Lopez when it came to his activity and how he has acted since his win against Vasiliy Lomachenko last year.

"He [Lopez] beat Lomachenko and he might ride on that forever. He may f—k around and retire and say he beat Lomachenko."
