The Champions League league phase reaches its conclusion with Matchday 8, as teams look to confirm their places in the competition’s round of 16. Only the top eight qualify automatically, while there’s a play-off berth for a further 16 sides, so it’s all to play for on Wednesday night.
Barcelona can book their place among the automatic qualifiers when they take on Copenhagen in their final league phase fixture.
The Spanish giants got a much-needed win on Matchday 7, as they got the better of Slavia Prague in a 4-2 win to boost their hopes of making the top eight.
However, their campaign hasn’t been plain sailing, and it’s left them going into the final round in 9th place and one of a cluster of sides locked on 13 points, all aiming to win their final game and hope those around them slip up.
Going in the Catalans’ favour is one of the gentler final fixtures at home to the Danes, who have only won two of their seven games so far. However, Copenhagen did hold Napoli to a draw last time out and still have an outside chance of a play-off spot.
