Bolton’s long wait for win at Bloomfield Road continues after Blackpool draw

PA

Bolton’s 48-year wait for a victory against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road goes on after a dramatic 1-1 draw in Sky Bet League One.

Xavier Simons had a late goal ruled out, which would most likely have given Bolton their first win at their Lancashire rivals since March 1977 – the same weekend that the first Star Wars film was released.

Blackpool forged ahead with their first attack, Dale Taylor spinning past George Johnston just inside his own half and then beating Teddy Sharman-Lowe with a near-post effort, which bounced off the foot of the woodwork and then the goalkeeper’s back before dribbling over the line.

Bolton got themselves level just after the hour when Amario Cozier-Duberry’s shot took a massive deflection into the path of Hull loan striker Burstow, who rifled home his third goal of the campaign from close range.

After Sharman-Lowe had pulled off a fine save from Taylor, the Wanderers thought they had snatched the points.

Simons drilled a shot into the net from Josh Sheehan’s corner, only for the wild celebrations to be cut short when the assistant referee flagged for an offside player who had been in the goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s eyeline.
