Real Madrid and Man City on repeat

You'd be forgiven for thinking you've seen this before, because this is the fifth season in a row these two European giants have met in this competition - and the second meeting in this year's competition.

Back in December, it was City who left the Bernabeu with the win, but it's Real who currently hold the advantage in a knockout setting, having dumped the Premier League side in consecutive seasons.

Going into this latest clash, both teams sit second in their domestic leagues, having ground to make up if they are to overtake Arsenal and Barcelona respectively.

Madrid's form has been a little more erratic, having lost to Getafe last week and missing the Champions League's top scorer in Kylian Mbappe, which may give Pep Guardiola's side the opening they need to register a second win in Madrid this term.

European champions vs. World champions

The current Champions League holders had to navigate the play-offs once again to reach the last sixteen, and they'll come up against the side that swept them away last summer to be crowned world champs at the FIFA Club World Cup.

However, this is a different Chelsea they'll be facing in Paris. One under a different manager and a manager who's already beaten PSG this season, when Liam Rosenior was in charge of Strasbourg, and the Premier League's most in-form frontman in Joao Pedro.

With Luis Enrique's men having suffered a defeat to Monaco this past weekend - ironically, the team they overcame in the play-offs - Chelsea will now see this is a PSG team that can be beaten.

With the aura of last year's Champions League win waning, this could prove to be a big task for the reigning champions.

Bode/Glimt's next victim

Perhaps the biggest story of this season's Champions League has been the performances of Bode/Glimt, who continue their run with a clash with Sporting.

The Norwegian side's wins over Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in the league phase were seen as two of the biggest results in the club's history as they qualified for the play-offs, but they then took it to the next level in the knockout round, dumping out last year's runners-up Inter.

How far can they go? Well, having seen off some of Europe's leading lights, they'll fancy their chances against Sporting, despite the Portuguese's own impressive league phase display.

Once again, the conditions in Norway will go in the home side's favour, meaning if they get a good result in the first leg, then the fairy tale could roll on into the last eight.

Arsenal continue quadruple chase

The Gunners sit on the half of the draw where they've avoided some of Europe's biggest guns and opened up a real possibility of finally getting their hands on their first Champions League.

First, they have to overcome a Leverkusen side, who may not be as strong as some of the sides left in the competition, nor as they were two years ago, but have already shown they can be a match for anyone - just ask Manchester City.

However, the Gunners will be huge favourites, given the season they are having, and as we get to the business end of the campaign, the talk of a quadruple gets stronger and stronger in North London.
