The final two Champions League quarter-final match-ups were decided on Wednesday, with Bayern Munich hosting Real Madrid and Sporting CP travelling to face Arsenal for their respective second legs.
Here are some of the bigger talking points from Wednesday's Champions League action.
It was a clash of the titans in every sense as both teams went all out in order to win the second leg in Munich.
Five goals in the first half — including an Arda Güler strike in the opening 30 seconds — set the tone for a barnburning finish as Real Madrid looked to overturn Bayern's 2-1 advantage from last week.
The La Liga giants were well on their way to nullifying Bayern's cushion as they were winning Wednesday's match by a goal for nearly the entire second half, but with extra time looming, Eduardo Camavinga collected his second yellow card and was given his marching orders.
That single action flipped the match on its head as Bayern smelled blood and pushed forward, eventually leading to spectacular goals from Luis Diaz in the 89th minute and Michael Olise in stoppage time to win both the match and the tie.
Bayern now have the semi-finals against PSG to look forward to, and it could be another pair of scintillating matches
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said before the match that he wanted "pure fire" from his side, but they seemed unable to get out of second gear in Wednesday's deciding leg.
Despite holding most of the possession, the Gunners had few ideas when it came to penetrating the Sporting defence and creating clear-cut chances.
Instead, the Premier League leaders held steadfast and appeared almost in cruise control despite only being a goal up from the first leg. As the clock ticked down, Sporting's self-belief seemed to completely vanish, and Arsenal were left to control the play en route to an uninspiring 0-0 draw.
To be fair to the home side, they were rarely challenged by their Portuguese visitors, and given their dip in form in recent weeks, they were understandably risk-averse as advancement appeared assured from the hour mark onwards.
Either way, the Gunners are into the semi-finals for the second year running.
