Clash of titans

There's no doubt which is the glamour match of Wednesday's slate, as Real Madrid vs. Juventus pits two of the world's biggest clubs on a collision course.

Both sides boast a storied history both domestically and in Europe, but even among peers there is still a hierarchy — and Real Madrid is firmly on top.

Los Blancos hold 15 Champions League titles, more than double that of the next best club, and are a perennial threat to win the competition. Meanwhile, Juventus' two UCL titles are rooted in the past as the Bianconeri haven't topped the mountain since 1996.

This season, Real Madrid have taken two wins from their first two matches, while Juve's two draws see the Italian side well down the table in the league phase.

However, anything can happen in 90 minutes, and Juventus would love nothing more than to earn their first win of the 2025-26 Champions League against the best club to ever participate in the competition.

Chelsea on the rise

The Blues got off to a forgettable start in the league phase, losing 3-1 to Bayern Munich on Matchday 1. They rebounded with a combative 1-0 victory against Benfica, in which Joao Pedro was shown red deep into stoppage time.

Now, Chelsea will prepare for tonight's encounter with Ajax amid a rise in form for the Londoners. Enzo Maresca's men have won three straight games in all competitions and go looking for No. 4 as they welcome Ajax to Stamford Bridge.

The Amsterdam club sits rock bottom in the 36-team standings with zero goals scored, so Chelsea will need to take full advantage.

Rebound required for Spurs

Thomas Frank has helped Tottenham regain the stature that was nowhere to be seen last season when the north London club finished 17th in the Premier League, as Spurs are now back in the mix near the top of the table in England.

They qualified for this edition of the Champions League thanks to an incredibly unlikely run to the Europa League title last season, and they've started this league phase with a win and a draw.

However, Spurs still struggle for consistency as they can sometimes underwhelm in their performances, and such was the case last weekend as they fell 2-1 to visiting Aston Villa in the Premier League over the weekend.

It's not how a team wants to go into a Champions League week, but with Monaco struggling to just a single point from their first two games, Tottenham will be favoured to bounce back and claim the victory.

Anything less than a victory tonight should be seen as a failure for Frank and Co.

Liverpool desperate for a good performance

Everything written above regarding Spurs goes double for Liverpool, who are currently in a free fall after starting the season as the hottest team in Europe.

The Reds leapt into the Premier League lead with five straight victories to open the season, and they also edged past Atletico Madrid on Matchday 1 of the Champions League to keep the good times rolling.

However, the tables have completely turned on Arne Slot's side, who have now lost four straitght games in all competitions and are desperate to avoid a fifth defeat in a row.

To that end, they now face in Eintracht Frankfurt a club in similar distress — Eintracht's record over their past three matches is zero wins, two losses and a draw, with their opponents outscoring them 10-3 across those games.

A loss to a flailing Eintracht would be a hammer blow to Liverpool's already fragile confidence, and could make Arne Slot's seat just a little bit hotter.

How many goals will Harry Kane score?

It's not a question of if Kane will score, but when and how many.

The England striker has found another gear for Bayern Munich this season as he's already running away with the Golden Boot race in the Bundesliga. Kane has also been on the mark four times in the current Champions League campaign, tallying twice in each of the German club's two games so far.

Kane is on such a hot streak that the last time he didn't score for Bayern was way back on Aug. 30. He's since recorded goals in seven straight matches.

The 32-year-old goes for eight straight tonight against Club Brugge. Who would bet again him at this point?
