The two clubs battled for the player once before.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas sees no way that Mikel Arteta can land Mykhailo Mudryk for a bargain fee.

Arsenal were the expected destination for the Ukrainian, but he instead elected to move to Stamford Bridge, and in recent months he has started to improve his performances after initially struggling to impress.

Chelsea paid an initial £62 million for the 23-year-old, who has scored five goals this season, but there are rumours that he could be let go this summer as Todd Boehly attempts to balance the book after some heavy transfer spending since his takeover.

Arsenal could be one destination as they continue to hunt silverware, and speaking to Lord Ping, Gallas thinks his current club will be in no position to let him go on the cheap.

He said: “If Arsenal still want Mykhailo Mudryk and come in with a big fee, Chelsea will have no option but to sell him because of their financial issues. How Chelsea have got themselves in this situation is confusing.

“Chelsea will need to think properly on how to sort out their problems, otherwise the fans will continue to be frustrated.”
