The former United goal scorer has had his say.

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole says the team will benefit "150%" by not playing European football next season.

United missed the chance to climb up to sixth in the Premier League table due to a humbling 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Monday.

Erik ten Hag's side can still qualify for European football next season by winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

But Cole - whose 187 goals are fourth most in Premier League history - says United will be better off out of Europe next season.

Asked by Betfred if United would be better off out of Europe, Cole said: "150%! If Manchester United are in Europe next season, then the expectation from the fans is going to be huge.

"Let’s just focus on becoming a better football team, get to a better position in the league and get Manchester United back to where they should be.

"They need to forget about the Europa League and just try and finish as high as they can in the league."
