'Brilliant' Harrison Reed goal rescues draw for Fulham against Liverpool
Fulham's late 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday was a fair result, according to Marco Silva.
The Cottagers took a first-half lead in Sunday's match and then allowed Liverpool to score two straight goals, requiring a world-class strike from midfielder Harrison Reed to save the result for the London side.
It was the least the hosts deserved after a good performance at Craven Cottage, Silva said.
"When we were losing, it was completely unfair for us," the Fulham manager told told Sky Sports. "We scored an amazing first goal and we explored that space between the full-back and the centre-back.
"Brilliant moment from Harrison Reed, it put more fairness in the game."
The match appeared to be headed towards a 1-1 draw before Cody Gakpo scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to seemingly seal the victory for Liverpool. However, Reed — who had just entered the match minutes before Gakpo's strike — stepped up to the moment with his first goal in nearly three years to ensure that the teams shared the spoils and that Fulham extended their undefeated streak to five Premier League matches.
"I came on and then two minutes later they scored so I did my best to keep the boys going," Reed told Sky Sports. "I knew we were going to get another chance, I thought it would be a bit more clear cut than that, but it came to me nicely.
"Kevin has given me the ball and I had no other option but to hit one. What a feeling. Not sure on the celebration, I was a bit everywhere, but a deserved point definitely."
