Real Madrid are on to the Champions League's round of 16 thanks to an emphatic 3-1 victory over Manchester City on Wednesday, with Kylian Mbappé scoring all three of the Spanish side's goals in the match.

Wednesday's result, coupled with last week's 3-2 victory in Manchester, gave Los Blancos a 6-3 aggregate win in the two-legged knockout phase play-off tie. Including his goal in the first leg, Mbappé scored four of his side's six total goals against the Sky Blues.

"Fantastic player," Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti told TNT Sports of Mbappé. "We have a lot of quality up front and when we are able to connect him with Rodrygo, [Jude] Bellingham and Vinicius we are really, really dangerous - that happened in these two games.

"He had a lot of opportunities in these two games against a really good team, City are still a really good team, and we looked very dangerous."

Bellingham echoed his manager's sentiments on Mbappé, who is in his first season with Real Madrid after spending this first nine professional seasons in Ligue 1 with Monaco and PSG.

"It is brilliant playing with him," Bellingham said. "You go into games knowing you can give him the ball and he is going to affect things.

"Our jobs behind him and the rest of the front three is to try and get them into the best positions possible and I myself try and get in the box too.

"You know when Kylian gets the ball in the areas he likes on the pitch he is going to be dangerous. Left foot or right foot. He scored a few different types of goals today.

"It is incredible what he has done in his career. I know he had a slow start here and took time getting used to life here. Now he is flying and it's so good to see."
