Liverpool could receive a boost for their trip to Emirates Stadium on Thursday, as Hugo Ekitike could be able to feature for the Reds against Arsenal.
Ekitike played 90 minutes of Liverpool's scoreless draw with Leeds United on New Year's Day but missed the team's 2-2 draw with Fulham three days later due to DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). His status for Thursday's massive clash with Premier League-leading Arsenal is still up in the air, but Liverpool manager Arne Slot believes the 23-year-old forward could be available to face the Gunners.
"He has not trained with us until now and let’s see if he can today," Slot told reporters on Wednesday, prior to Liverpool's final training session ahead of Thursday's game.
“I’ve said, I think, two or three days ago when we played Fulham that he is not going to be out for long, but because games come so fast he is in between maybe training with the team or it would take him one or two days extra.”
Ekitike's return would be warmly welcomed by a Liverpool side currently without Mohamed Salah (international duty) and Alexander Isak (ankle injury).
