Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool made a major early statement in the title race with their 1-0 win over Arsenal.
A stunning free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai seven minutes from time secured three points for the champions at Anfield and kept up their 100 per cent record this term.
“It’s absolutely huge,” former Reds defender Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“Liverpool have got nine points out of nine, they’ve played two difficult games, Newcastle away, Arsenal at home, and not been at their best. And what a position they find themselves in.
“They can get the transfer window out of the way, come back after the international break and I’m sure we’ll see a lot better from Liverpool. A fantastic start for them.”
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville believes Liverpool still have a clear mental edge over the Gunners.
“Liverpool have got something that Arsenal and (Mikel) Arteta don’t have right now, that edge to go on and win those big matches,” he said.
“Liverpool believe they should be winning these matches, I’m not sure Arsenal do, they don’t want to lose.”

Former United midfielder Roy Keane added: “It’s hard to beat Liverpool. They did it last year.
“Winning football matches when you are not at your best is what champions do. They deserved that with their second-half performance.”
