It's been a tough campaign for National League side Ebbsfleet United, who currently find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table.
The Kent side have only won once all season, a record that saw the club part ways with boss Harry Watling in December. In his place came Josh Wright, moved from his position as veteran midfielder to The Fleet's new permanent boss.
It's always a big decision for a player to move across into management, but speaking on DAZN's Multi-Match Live, Wright told hosts Curley and Aaron McLean that he'd always thought he'd go into coaching and this is a job he couldn't say no to.
"I'll be lying if I said I didn't say I always had one eye on it when I was playing," Wright admitted.
"Even from a young age, it was one of those things that people inside the game and my family outside thought I could go on to do. I love the game, I loved playing it and management, being in charge and being in the hot seat with that pressure is something I've always looked at, thought that I'd thrive off.
"Did I envisage it would happen like this and as early as this? Maybe not, maybe not in a transition within a season, certainly not this season when I started it. But in life you get given opportunities and opportunities come about and I'm a big believer that you have to take opportunities and take chances, and if you don't you never know when the next one will come along.
"There's never an ideal time, timing is life is crucial, but I'm learning every day just as I was as a player, I'm in the deep end but I'm only learning and I'll keep on swimming, keep on going."
Wright, whose playing career saw him represent a number of different clubs including spells in the Championship with Millwall and Scunthorpe, faces a massive task to save Ebbsfleet from the drop but has enjoyed the transition from player to gaffer and vowed to try and save the club's season.
Adding: "I'm still in football, it's still football, but let me tell you it's completely different
"There's a lot more hours, there's a lot more stress, there's a different form of effort that has to go into it. But I'm enjoying it.
"It's a lot of time spent in other areas. You're in the office a lot, you're on the training ground, you're out and about, and you're on the road watching other games. But I'm thoroughly enjoying it
"It's been a difficult start, I can't shy away from that because we're in a difficult position. Things are tough and we're up against it to say the least, but it's a challenge and I love a challenge, it's one I'm going to keep hitting head on and I will turn things around sooner rather than later.
"There's so much I've loved, there was no way when the club that I love - one that I keep close to my heart and had a great time at - offered me the job that I was going to turn it down in the circumstances we're in now. I'm going to do everything I can to make this club successful again."
