How many times have Manchester City won the FA Cup?

This Saturday, the Premier League takes a back seat as the oldest cup competition in football takes centre stage, the FA Cup Final. 

Manchester City appear in their fourth final in a row, looking to make it a cup double in 2025-26 as they take on Chelsea. 

Two sides that are no strangers to lifting the famous trophy, so DAZN News' looks back at City's previous triumphs in the competition. 

How many times has Manchester City won the FA Cup? 

Manchester City first won the cup over a century ago in 1904 and has won it seven times in total. They'll be looking to get back to winning ways in 2026, having lost the previous finals to Manchester United in 2024 and Crystal Palace last year. 

1904 - Manchester City 1-0 Bolton Wanderers 

Manchester City's first-ever major honour came by way of the FA Cup, when they won the competition over 120 years ago. 

Held at Crystal Palace in London, Billy Meredith scored the only goal of the game as First Division City overcame second-tier Bolton Wanderers. 

1934 - Manchester City 2-1 Portsmouth 

Thirty years after they first won the trophy, City lifted the cup once again, with two goals from Fred Tilson seeing off Portsmouth at Wembley. 

The game is notable for the performance of goalie Frank Swift, whose heroics kept Pompey at bay and secured the victory. 

1954 - Manchester City 3-1 Birmingham 

A game that has gone down in FA Cup folklore thanks to the performance of Bert Trautmann in the Manchester City goal. 

City won the game 3-1 thanks to goals from Joe Hayes, Jack Dyson and Bobby Johnson, but it was Trautmann who was the hero after playing most of the game with a broken neck following a collision with Peter Murphy. 

1969 - Manchester City 1-0 Leicester City 

Manchester City were reigning First Division champions heading into this clash with a Leicester City side, who were battling against relegation, and the game went to form. 

Neil Young scored the only goal of the game, as City bagged major honours in two consecutive seasons for the first time in their history.

2011 - Manchester City 1-0 Stoke City 

The trophy that kicked off an era of dominance. The triumph over Stoke City was Manchester City's first major honour in 35 years and the maiden trophy under their new ownership. 

Yaya Toure got the only goal of the game, but it became the catalyst for what was to come. 

2019 - Manchester City 6-0 Watford 

A win that epitomised Pep Guardiola's early Manchester City side, as they blew Watford away at Wembley by hitting them for six. 

David Silva opened the scoring midway through the first half, before braces from Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling and a Kevin De Bruyne strike made it a record-setting scoreline for the Citizens. 

2023 - Manchester City 2-1 Manchester United 1

The first-ever Manchester derby in the FA Cup final, and it was the blue half who were celebrating their seventh cup win. 

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring inside 12 seconds to record the fastest-ever FA Cup final goal, and then popped up with the game's winner five minutes after the break as City went on to complete the treble.
