Manchester United and Olympique Lyonnais meet on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

The teams head into Old Trafford on level terms after drawing 2-2 last week in France. It was a match marred by the poor play of Red Devils goalkeeper Andre Onana, whose errors led directly to both Lyon goals and gave the French side every chance of moving on to the semis.

Despite the gaffes, United manager Ruben Amorim has given Onana a vote of confidence by confirming that the Cameroonian will start on Thursday after being left out of the squad for the club's Premier League loss to Newcastle over the weekend.

Whether Onana will redeem himself remains to be seen, but both sides will be highly motivated with a spot in the next round on the line.

Here's what you need to know about Manchester United and Lyon ahead of their second leg.

Manchester United vs. Lyon: What the managers are saying

Ruben Amorim, Manchester United

"Obviously it’s been a disappointing season, there’s no doubt about it. From the start of the season, we’ve been far too inconsistent. I think the performances have picked up of late, however I still think there’s key aspects in the game where us players have to take more responsibility and change them in our favour. There’s been a lot of games that have been 50-50 and we’ve ended up on the bad end of a result, and that’s something that we do need to work on as a team and a group of players. But of course, [Thursday] night is an important night for us in the competition, a big game at Old Trafford, a European night and one that we’re looking forward to."

“We know it will be an important match for Manchester United, but it will also be a very important match for us. Perhaps even more decisive for them, because it is their only chance of getting a place in the European Cup. For our part, we have prepared for this match as if we were going to face the best possible Manchester United.”

Manchester United vs. Lyon: Prediction

With a last gasp at a trophy, the Red Devils could rely on the comforts of home and improved play by Onana to pull off the needed victory.
