Will Marcus Rashford stay at Barcelona after loan ends?

Barcelona intends to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Rashford joined the Catalans on a season-long loan from Manchester United ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, following a previous loan to Aston Villa for the second half of the prior season. The 68-times cappped England international had not settled at Old Trafford under former managers Ruben Amorim and Erik ten Hag, but his move to Barcelona has been a positive one as the 28-year-old has made 32 appearances for the La Liga giants, scoring 10 goals.

Romano says the situation between Rashford and Barcelona is such that the club has notified the player of its intention to buy his contract outright from the Red Devils.

"Barça's intention is to go and sign Marcus Rashford," the football journalist said on DAZN Transfer with Fabrizio Romano. "They already told this to the player and to his agents in recent weeks, do Barça will do everything they can do."

Rashford was loaned to the Spanish club with a buy out clause for reportedly around €35 million. Barcelona would have to make that figure work within their own financial structure, with Romano stating that the payment terms are "very fast."

Regardless, Romano doesn't believe anything will get done before the end of the campaign.

"Let's see if [Barcelona] can trigger the buy option close or if they want to negotiate with Manchester United, but Barça have all the intention to continue with Rashford," he said. "So I think there is a very good chance to see Rashford staying, but let's wait for the summer."
