Promotion Finals this weekend

National League North

Scunthorpe United vs Chester

  • Date: Sunday, May 18
  • Time: 4pm BST

Glanford Park will be rocking to the noise of nine thousand fans as Scunthorpe host Chester in the National League North Promotion Final.

Andy Butler's side finished second in the regular season, and with home advantage, will be favourites to join Brackley Town in the National League next year, as they begin their ascent back up the league ladder.

The Iron were a Championship side less than fifteen years ago, and after a disastrous decade, can now see light at the end of the tunnel under their club legend.

They'll need to find a way past Calum McIntyre's Chester side, whose points haul in 2025 is only bettered by the champions, and are looking to bounce back to the National League and finally get this phoenix version of Chester back on the footballing map.

National League South

Boreham Wood vs Maidstone United

  • Date: Sunday, May 18
  • Time: 12:30pm BST

The National League South's season ends with a Promotion Final featuring two teams no strangers to life in the division above.

Luke Garrard's Boreham Wood are looking to bounce back to the National League at the first attempt and having missed out on automatic promotion on a ridiculous final day, they'll be hoping home advantage will give them the edge at Meadow Park.

They will be wary of a Maidstone team that they've failed to beat this season and who have quietly gone about their business to make the Promotion Final.

George Elokobi's side are looking to get back into the spotlight following their well-documented FA Cup exploits last season, and a return to the National League would be a great start for a Kent side who have excelled against the teams in and around the top this season.
