The Champions League returns Tuesday with the first set of Matchday 3 fixtures.
Included in Tuesday's action is a meeting between Newcastle United and Benfica, pitting the Premier League side against one of the giants of Portugal.
Newcastle were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline on Matchday 1, with visiting Barcelona taking all three points from St James' Park on that occasion. The Magpies bounced back however, traveling to Brussels and hammering Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 to give them their first victory of the 2025-26 league phase.
As for Benfica, they have lost both of their matches so far in this season's competition, with their most recent outing a 1-0 loss at Chelsea. The Primeira Liga side will be desperate for a result as they aim to avoid three straight losses to start the league phase.

Vangelis Pavlidis - Benfica
The Greece international has been prolific for Benfica since joining the Portuguese outfit last season, scoring 19 goals and adding three assists in the league in 2024-25.
Pavlidis has continued his free-scoring ways this season, with five goals and two assists in his first seven league matches.
The 26-year-old was on target in Benfica's 3-2 loss to visiting Qarabag on Matchday 1, and his side will need him at his best if they are to get anything out of this match.
