Premier League weekend wrap-up: Liverpool and Bournemouth humbled, Arsenal drop points for first time since September
The Premier League is now on hiatus for the November international break, but there was another weekend of action before the players dispersed to their respective national teams.
Included in the matches were some big results, including Arsenal's first non-victory in over a month, an Aston Villa beatdown, and Manchester City reminding everyone of their title credentials.
Here are some of the bigger talking points from Matchweek 11.
Sunderland earn draw with Arsenal
Much has been made of Arsenal's clean sheet streak, which stretched across the entire month of October and into November as the Gunners rang off win after win in various competitions.
The North London side rode that wave to the top of the Premier League table (and tied on points atop the Champions League), as Mikel Arteta's vision for pragmatic, winning football became realized.
It reached historic proportions, with Arsenal equalling a club record with eight consecutive shut-out victories, and they looked to extend that mark to nine games when they visited the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
However, Sunderland had other plans, and in the 36th minute it was Daniel Ballard who ended the clean sheet streak at over 13 straight hours, giving the Black Cats the improbable lead.
Arsenal fought back and found the back of the net in the second half as they usually do, twice in this particular match, but Sunderland were determined to not allow their visitors to leave with all three points, and Brian Brobbey struck for the leveller in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
The result not only gave Sunderland the distinction of being the team to end Arsenal's perfect defensive streak, but it also confirmed the Black Cats as a side that can go toe-to-toe with the best the Premier League has to offer.
Arsenal also gave up ground in the title race, but only time will tell if it was a mere blip or a sign of things to come for the perennial nearly men of the Premier League.
Aston Villa teach Bournemouth a lesson
What a difference a few days can make.
Heading into November, Bournemouth were flying high and sitting in second place in the standings.
Just over a week later, the Cherries have fallen all the way to ninth after back-to-back defeats on the road. Last week's loss at the Etihad to Manchester City was followed up by a humbling 4-0 loss to Aston Villa in Birmingham, with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola calling Sunday's result "a warning from the league."
It's not that Bournemouth lost in two straight — most teams would struggle in consecutive away matches at Man City and Villa — but it's the ease with which their opponents claimed those victories that should be very alarming for Iraola and the Cherries.

As was noted by this writer ahead of these two matches, Bournemouth had enjoyed a very soft schedule up to that point and would finally be facing a true stretch of adversity for the first time this season.
How the team rebounds from this will be very indicative of what's in store for the rest of the campaign.
Are Man City back?
It certainly appears that way after their thorough domination of Liverpool on Sunday.
Man City ran out 3-0 winners in the marquee match of the weekend, and the scoreline may have even flattered the Reds as Erling Haaland missed a penalty in the early moments.
In truth, it wasn't much of a contest as Liverpool failed to show up. The Reds were just days removed from an emotional 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League — their second win in a row after a comfortable 2-0 league win against Aston Villa to start the month.
It felt like Liverpool had returned to their best selves after those back-to-back victories, but Sunday's defeat brought all of Arne Slot's side's deficiencies back to the forefront.
Instead, it should be said that Man City are the ones regaining their form of old, as Pep Guardiola's men have now rung off four consecutive wins across all competitions and pulled a little bit closer to Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.
