Ricky Hatton reveals the match that 'could be a sticky wicket' in Manchester City title chase

Ricky Hatton reveals the match that 'could be a sticky wicket' in Manchester City title chaseDAZN
The former two-weight world champion is otherwise "relaxed" about City's prospects.

Ricky Hatton is a well-known fan of Manchester City, and like other supporters of the club he's become accustomed to the yearly pursuit of trophies that has now become the norm at the Etihad Stadium.

City are the three-time defending Premier League champions and they are on track for their fourth straight league crown as long as they win their last three matches of the season.

For Hatton, who is a multiple-time champion in the boxing ring, the annual success enjoyed by the club has now become expected, and he believes City will once again reign as league champions when the campaign ends.

However, he warned of one possible scenario that could see City slip and allow current league leaders Arsenal to claim their first league crown in two decades.

"City fans are pretty relaxed about winning the Premier League title – we’re getting a little bit cocky, but that shows you far we’ve come," Hatton told Lord Ping. "I’m still devastated that we lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League [quarter-finals]. I thought we had a great chance of winning the lot.

"Real Madrid played a clever game, they got behind the ball. After City equalised, they were playing for penalties. For Real Madrid to do that. That tells you everything about where City are at the moment.

"I think we'll win all our [league] games; we're absolutely flying at the minute. Tottenham away [on May 14]. That could be a sticky wicket for me. Our record at their place hasn’t been great – I know we beat them there in the FA Cup – so that makes me a little bit nervous."
