River Plate ease past Urawa Red Diamonds in Seattle

Group E at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup got underway Tuesday afternoon in Seattle as River Plate faced Urawa Red Diamonds at Lumen Field.

The Argentine side came into the match as favourites and they lived up to the billing, claiming a 3-1 victory off goals by Facundo Colidio, Sebastian Driussi and Maximiliano Meza. 

However, the Red Diamonds proved no pushovers as they put five shots on target in the match, including Yusuke Matsuo's cool penalty kick near the hour mark.
