Serie A returns this weekend as Inter Milan begin their title defence, and there have been plenty of talking points ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 21-time champions have added some eye-catching signings this summer, adding recognised Premier League quality to boost their standing.

Inter Milan vs. Monza

• Date: Saturday, August 22
• Time: 5.30pm
• Venue: San Siro

Inter Milan start their title defence on home soil against newly promoted Monza and are expected to deliver a convincing victory at the San Siro.

I Nerazzurri have lifted the Serie A trophy in three of the last six seasons but have failed to retain their title since the 2009/10 campaign.

The club have made several intriguing signings from the Premier League, including John Stones, Djed Spence and Manuel Akanji, but sold Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid.

Their opponents, Monza, earned promotion from Serie B via the play-offs and will be aiming to beat their best-ever finish of 11th under new manager Ivan Juric.

Torino vs. AC Milan

Ruben Amorim begins life as AC Milan boss as I Rossoneri face a tricky away test at Ignazio Abate's Torino.

Milan will be striving to improve on their fifth-placed finish last season and have spent significantly in the transfer window to do so.

Goncalo Ramos, Mario Gila and Sankhoun Diawara arrive for a combined €106million as Amorim attempts to rebuild his career following an uninspiring spell at Manchester United.

Torino finished 12th last term and promise to cause Milan problems on home soil as new signing Giovanni Simeone strives to build on the 11 league goals he managed while on loan at Il Toro last season.

Roma vs. Fiorentina

• Time: 7.45pm
• Venue: Stadio Olimpico

When it comes to historic Serie A sides, it does not come much bigger than Roma and Fiorentina, even if the latter are a shell of their former selves.

I Giallorossi enjoyed an encouraging first campaign under Gian Piero Gasperini, finishing in third, 14 points behind champions Inter and will be juggling Champions League football with domestic matters.

They face a Fiorentina side who underwhelmed last campaign, finishing 15th and eight points above the relegation zone - their lowest standing in seven years.

I Viola have spent north of €100m to bolster new manager Fabio Grosso's side, with Christ Inao Oulaï, Arthur Atta and Matteo Pellegrino their most expensive additions.
