No one seems to be able to stop the relentless machine that is Inter at the top of Serie A, but the chasing pack are doing their best to keep on the coattails of the league leaders.

Elsewhere, there was a stalemate between Como and Atalanta as they look to break up the big guns in the top six, while Cagliari continued their good run.

Here's a round-up of the big talking points from Serie A's matchday 23, with two big games still to play across Monday and Tuesday.

Inter in cruise control

Not even a Jamie Vardy fairytale can stop Inter right now, who made business-like work of Cremonese on Sunday.

It felt like the stage for the former England striker to write another chapter in his incredible footballing story, but it wasn't to be as Cristian Chivu's men saw off the home side with a pretty comfortable 2-0 win.

Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Piotr Zielinski sealed the game for the league leaders to see them go eight points clear of rivals Milan, before their game away at Bologna on Tuesday.

The game, however, was marred by a flare thrown onto the pitch that saw Cremonese goalie Emil Audero having to duck for cover, and the game briefly stopped to attend to the player and the situation.

Thankfully, Audero carried on and only emerged with a cut to his leg from the incident.

Much-needed win for Napoli

Napoli managed to pick themselves up after a terrible week that saw the club lose heavily to Juventus and then be dumped out of Europe altogether after defeat to Chelsea, by getting a much-needed victory over Fiorentina.

Antonio Vergara followed up his first goal for the club in midweek by opening the scoring for the champions, before Miguel Gutiérrez sealed the game with the second in the 2-1 win.

Vergara has been a rare highlight from a dismal seven days for Antonio Conte, who has given his injury-hit squad a fresh impetus since coming into the side and keeps up their faint hopes of catching Inter at the top of the table.

As for Fiorentina, they are still below the dotted line after their recent revival hit a wall and have now suffered back-to-back defeats.

Cagilari continue fine form

Outside the leaders, the in-form team in Serie A right now is Cagliari, who chalked up a third win in a row this weekend with a rampant victory over Hellas Verona.

It completes a trio of impressive victories for the side, having beaten Juventus and ended Fiorentina's mini-revival on their own patch.

It's seen Fabio Pisacane's men move away from the wrong end of the table and will be full of confidence before a trip to Roma next weekend.
