Serie A weekend round-up: Milan make title play, Juventus frustrate and six teams still look for a win

There are still two games to go in Matchday Five of the Serie A season, but the weekend's results proved pivotal as we look back on all the action.

None more so than at the San Siro, where Milan laid a marker down, not just for their new regime but for their title credentials. While the other half of the city look to have found their groove under Christian Chivu.

Here are the big talking points from Matchday Five.

Serie A on DAZN

Milan make their move

It was billed as the game of the season so far and for several reasons, Milan vs Napoli lived up to the hype.

There was a telling early goal, a controversial sending off, and in the end, a statement win for the home side that condemned Napoli to their first defeat of the season.

It was a blistering start from Max Allegri's men, inspired by Christian Pulisic, who really tormented the reigning champions in the first forty-five minutes.

Unfortunately, the sending off of Pervis Estupinan on the hour prevented the last portion of the match being an even encounter. However, Milan showed their mettle by preventing Napoli from finding an equaliser.

It's only five games in and no title challenge is laid down this early, but it's proof that Milan have what it takes to be in the mix this season as they now top the table after the win.

Meanwhile, Napoli are still to completely convince this season if they have what it takes to maintain a title defence.

The Old lady can't get the job done

Juventus may remain unbeaten after five games, but for the second weekend in a row they dropped points in a game they dominated - especially with the ball.

They failed to take advantage of ten-man Atalanta - who remain the Old Lady's bogey team at home - and for all the possession they had, failed to create enough and were once again exposed on the counter.

Questions have been asked about selection and shape from those outside of the camp, with Jonathan David once again failing to make it off the bench to try and make an impact.

Next up is a buoyant Milan side, and if Igor Tudor's team are found wanting again, some cracks may start to appear in their season.

Inter find their groove?

It's been a bit of an indifferent start for Inter, but Saturday's 2-0 win over in-form Cagliari was easily their best performance of the season so far in the league - helped in no doubt by the return of Lautaro Martinez.

The club's talisman opened the scoring for Inter and from that point on, there was never ever really any doubt on the victory.

The disappointments against Udinese and Juventus proved there are still frailties in the side, but they seem to be now finding their way under Christian Chivu - which is good news for the title race.

A win over unbeaten Cremonese next week, and it will be all smiles heading into the international break.

Six without a win

Uniquely, there are still SIX teams in the league who are yet to taste victory as we head into October.

Lecce prop up the table - although their late equaliser from teenage star Francesco Camarda could be just what they need - and above them are Pisa, Parma, Genoa, Verona and Fiorentina who all are yet to chalk up a win.

Even more concerning, Parma, Verona and Genoa have only scored five goals between them. Numbers that can't continue, otherwise teams run the risk of really getting cut adrift from the rest of the league.
