Wigan ended their three-game winless run with a 2-0 victory at Burton.
Second-half goals from Harrison Bettoni and Dara Costelloe wrapped up the points for Ryan Lowe’s side five years to the day since Latics’ last victory in East Staffordshire.
Brad Collins had to block from Costelloe early on as Wigan looked to make a fast start.
Bettoni did beat Collins but saw his angled shot clip a post before Albion were inches away from a bizarre opener.
Sam Tickle’s attempted clearance thudded into Fabio Tavares and the keeper looked on in horror as the ball looped back towards his goal before dropping just wide.
The second half was just as frantic, and Wigan hit the front in the 64th minute when Joe Hungbo slung over a deep cross to pick out Bettoni and the young striker’s header had too much on it for Collins.
Burton looked for a response and Kyran Lofthouse headed inches wide just moments before Costelloe latched onto a pass from Fraser Murray and fired home to seal victory for Wigan.
