TORONTO — CM Punk's return to AEW has brought a lot of attention back on the popular wrestling promotion, but the manner of his departure last year remains divisive among some fans.

Sunday night saw AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling put on their cross-promotional Forbidden Door pay-per-view event, this year held in Toronto.

The Canadian metropolis has long been a wrestling stronghold, but it's also earned a reputation for bucking trends. When a performer is solidly a babyface everywhere else in the world, he's often a heel in Toronto (and vice versa).

And just a few days after Punk received a hero's welcome in his hometown of Chicago for his official return, he was roundly booed at Scotiabank Arena.

While Sunday's reception doesn't tell the whole story, there's at least one city where Punk is not universally loved.
