Arnold Barboza is enjoying a stellar 2025 so far and the American star can make it an even better year this weekend when he faces Teofimo Lopez , live on DAZN PPV.
Barboza travelled to England earlier this year and delivered the performance of his career as he defeated Jack Catterall in Manchester .
His reward is world title showdown with Lopez, and Barboza must upset the odds again if he is to become world champion.
Lopez is one of boxing’s greatest fighters and he has provided his dominance in two weight classes with standout performances against Vasiliy Lomachenko and Josh Taylor.
With a bill featuring a host of stellar names including Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney, the spotlight will be shining brightly on the whole event, and this is the perfect opportunity for Barboza to shine brightest.
Despite taking a significant step up in class, Barboza does not believe that Lopez is as special as some others think.
“I think he’s an athlete. I think he’s athletic, but I’m also athletic. It’s gonna be a great fight. I think he’s athletic. I think he has some good traits,” said Barboza when speaking to The Ring .
“You know, as a fighter you gotta give props when props are due, right? I think he’s a good fighter, but I don’t think he’s anything special.
“I’ve always said it. You know, I think people think he’s gonna beat me. But I’m gonna come out with the upset. I think I’m gonna make it one-sided and people are gonna be surprised.”
