Ben Whittaker is ready to show why he is 'The Surgeon' after he hit the scales ahead of his Matchroom bow tomorrow night, live and exclusively on DAZN.
Whittaker will be fighting in front of a home crowd at Birmingham's bp Pulse LIVE, and he will be a favourite to triumph over Germany's Benjamin Gavazi.
Both Whittaker and Gavazi successfully made weight on Friday, registering 174.8lbs and 174.5lbs on the scales respectively, and Whittaker spoke to Matchroom's Jamie Ward after the customary face off.
"I’m looking good. The work’s been good, I’m ready to put on a show. It’s showtime," Whittaker said.
Then came the final message for his opponent.
"I’m going to turn up and show why I’m ‘The Surgeon’," he told those in attendance before walking off the stage to begin his final preparations ahead of this new chapter.
Gavazi has not been afraid to try and unsettle the rising British star. A face off on Tuesday saw the pair engage in a verbal exchange, but Whittaker has been calm and composed throughout.
Even during Thursday's final press conference, Whittaker's only eye browsing comment came when he described his expected performance as 'sexy'.
With Andy Lee in his corner, it would not be a surprise if he is keeping 'The Surgeon' and his often divisive personality in check, but the Olympic medallist now needs to show the British and wider boxing public why he will be the sport's next big superstars in the years to come.
Ben Whittaker makes his Matchroom debut against Benjamin Gavazi exclusively on DAZN this Saturday night, November 29. Watch with a subscription, monthly and annual options available.
