Whittaker set for April comeback
Former Olympic hero Ben Whittaker got his pro career firmly back on track with his Matchroom debut in November.
The star sparked out Benjamin Gavazi inside a round, and was due to fight next across the Atlantic in America.
But Whittaker will instead feature on the Callum Smith-David Morrell undercard for his next test on April 18 instead.
It is not yet known who the rising star will face, but his team wil undoubtedly want him to bank some critical rounds.
Mayer reiterates Shields desire
Mikaela Mayer has reiterated her desire to face off with Claressa Shields, suggesting the latter lacks major foes.
Shields has cleared up the heavyweight division with disconcerting ease, raising questions over the level of her rivals.
Mayer, who sits alongside the Flint fighter as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet, is keen to make it happen.
“I absolutely want that fight,” she told The Ring. about a possible clash. "I said, ‘I’m here and ready when you are.’
Iwata-Badillo ordered by WBC
Fresh off earning the WBC light-flyweight crown against Knockout CP Freshmart, Shokichi Iwata has his orders.
The governing body have told the star he must take a mandatory order against Erik Badillo for his first defence.
Iwata, a two-time champion, might have hoped to push for a unification opportunity, given his reputation at hand.
Instead, he must follow the WBC order and stick his strap up against the unbeaten and well-regarded Mexican.
