Carl Frampton backs British world champion to create 'nightmares' for Naoya Inoue
Former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton has claimed that Nick Ball can create 'nightmares' for pound-for-pound superstar Naoya Inoue.
Ball made a successful defence of his WBA featherweight title on Saturday night against TJ Doheny after the Irishman was pulled out of the fight by his corner at the end of round 10.
Following another win in his home city of Liverpool, Ball is now in line for some huge contests over the next year.
One name which is frequently mentioned is undisputed super bantamweight champion Inoue whose move to featherweight is a real possibility in the not too distant future.
If Inoue does decide to move up in weight, then Ball would be a more than worthy dance partner and Frampton believes that the 'Wrecking Ball' can cause problems for one of boxing's most lethal punchers.
"I genuinely think he has a very good chance of beating him," Frampton told Boxing News.
"Obviously, he would be coming up another weight division and that’s a problem with guys who are multi-weight, there’s a ceiling for you at a point.
"I don’t think Inoue can go much further than feather, super feather possibly, styles make fights. It’s a bit of a cliché, but Nick Ball’s style gives Inoue nightmares."
Inoue is set to return to the ring on May 4 when he defends his undisputed super bantamweight title against Ramon Cardenas in Las Vegas.
