The Matchroom promoter did not hold back on his criticism.

The super lightweight division in Britain is one full of talent and some big matchups are being made.

One of those is the long-awaited rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall on May 25 live on DAZN, but awaiting his shot at glory is Dalton Smith who impressed last month with a fifth round stoppage win over Jose Zepeda.

Following Smith's victory, it was expected that the Sheffield fighter would finally face Adam Azim, however, these hopes were dashed on Sunday night when it was revealed that Azim would be taking on Harlem Eubank in his next fight.

Matchroom's Eddie Hearn has been given the chance to respond to this announcement and claimed that Azim is now avoiding a clash with Smith.

"Adam Azim has ducked Dalton Smith," Hearn said in an interview with Matchroom

"We had the official notice today from the EBU that he’s relinquishing his belt.

"And you can try and dress it up with fights that haven’t been made yet and other fights that can be made.

"One minute Adam’s only 21 and Dalton’s 27, but Harlem Eubank’s 30.

"The whole thing is a load of b—s really. The fact is you’re not good enough to fight Dalton Smith, you know you can’t beat Dalton Smith."
