Heading into Saturday's bout against David Adeleye, Filip Hrgovic had felt it would be a 'walk in the park' en route to victory.
Despite losing by unanimous decision, Adeleye gave Hrgovic more than he bargained for. He opened up a cut over Hrgovic's right eye and rocked the Croatian on a few occasions. Hrgovic's volume punching, which ended up getting him a knockdown in the eighth round, proved to be too much. Adeleye showed he was more than just a body inside the ring, which earned the respect of Hrgovic.
“He’s a tough motherf— man,” Hrgovic told the Queensberry Promotions cameras after the fight.
“I knocked him down, and I should have finished him, but I don’t know what happened. I was a little too relaxed, and then he caught me with a few good shots and almost knocked me down.”
“Congrats to him. It was a good fight. I made some mistakes, but it was a good fight.”
