In the immediate aftermath, Eddie Hearm, Liddard’s promoter, could not hide his excitement as Liddard proved himself to be a serious talent with a higher ceiling than the Matchroom boss may have first forecasted.
Another middleweight hope who Liddard knows well is Jimmy Sains, and the heavy-handed star will feature on Liddard’s undercard this weekend as he faces Derrick Osaze in an English title fight.

Both future stars are promoted by Hearn and also both trained by Tony Sims meaning that a lucrative battle between two Essex fighters is a non-starter despite the pair appearing to be Britain’s best chance of success at 160lbs.
Despite there being no chance of a fight between the pair, that does not mean they do not spar, and Liddard has revealed what goes down when himself and Sains help each other prepare for combat.
“People would pay to watch them,” said Liddard when speaking exclusively to DAZN News just days before his showdown with Denny.
“We’re both young, hungry middleweights who are doing our own thing. Jim’s a good fighter and he’s a few fights behind me at the minute. I’ve got the British and Commonwealth and he can pick them up when I move on.
“We can’t fight. We’re from the same gym, and not even being from the same gym, we’re family friends too. We know each other very well. We’ve had some great rounds in the gym and people would definitely pay to watch it.”
