Agit Kabayel calls out 'silent' former world heavyweight champion

The WBC's interim heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel has criticised Daniel Dubois for not following up on his challenge to face the German in a huge heavyweight matchup.

Kabayel is set to get his long-awaited homecoming in Oberhausen on January 10 when he takes on Damian Knyba, live on DAZN, but he has his sights set on the biggest names in the division.

After knocking out Zhilei Zhang in Riyadh in February, Kabayel made himself a notable name, but also one being avoided by his immediate rivals.

One person that appeared interested in facing Kabayel is former IBF heavyweight champion Dubois who called out the former during the broadcast of Fabio Wardley's stoppage win over Joseph Parker

I've heard nothing from Daniel - Agit Kabayel

When asked about whether a Dubois fight was a possibility for early 2026, Kabayel revealed that he would have cancelled his return to Germany to face Dubois. However, when a clash with 'Dynamite' was suggested, there was radio silence from Dubois' camp.

"I said to the guys, cancel the homecoming event, and I come to the UK," Kabayel told BoxNation

"I heard from Daniel’s team, first he will make a ‘stay busy’ fight in the UK, he lost to Usyk, now he will have one fight to build momentum.

"I don’t understand, Daniel on the stage says ‘Kabayel, let’s go’ and after I’ve heard nothing from Daniel. For me, it’s bad news, it is what it is.

"I fight with Daniel Knyba, and after we can talk with Daniel or other guys."

Dubois has not fought since being knocked out by Oleksandr Usyk in July, and with a comeback planned for the first half of 2026, he has made some changes. The most notable being his change in trainer with Don Charles replaced by Tony Sims.
