Okolie issues social media statement after adverse VADA results

Lawrence Okolie has responded to news of his adverse VADA findings, suggesting that the result stemmed from medical treatment.

The Briton had been due to face Tony Yoka in Paris this weekend, in a bout that carried major ramifications for his heavyweight title hopes.

Following an adverse test result however, the former two-weight world champion appears unlikely to face the Rio 2016 star.

Taking to Instagram  on Tuesday morning, Okolie posted an image with blue strapping on his left arm, and another with scar tissue.

"Before anyone starts imagining the worst, following my bicep injury last year, I sustained an elbow injury on the same arm during this camp," he wrote.

"I had a treatment on it and now we are here. I truly hope sense prevails.

"I will of course be fully cooperating with all relevant authorities and I’m confident any investigation will clear my name.

"I won’t be making any further comment at this time. Thank you for all your support and see you soon."
