Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) today announced it has re-signed undefeated #5-ranked WBA, #6-ranked IBF, #12-ranked WBC, and #14-ranked WBO lightweight contender with the most-awarded knockout of 2024, Canadian “Prince” Lucas Bahdi (19-0, 15 KOs) to a multi-fight extension. Bahdi became MVP’s first Canadian signee in 2024 and will now continue his path towards world champion under the Most Valuable Promotions banner. Following his latest win atop MVP’s first-ever event in Canada, Most Valuable Prospects 11 in March 2025, Bahdi is now set to return to the ring on the main card of MVP Fight Night on Saturday, August 23 in Orlando, Florida, live on DAZN. He will face former WBA world champion Roger “The Kid” Gutierrez (29-6-1, 22 KOs) in a 12-round lightweight bout at 135 lbs, which has been sanctioned as a WBA elimination bout, with the winner to become the mandatory challenger to WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
MVP’s Canadian lightweight standout “Prince” Lucas Bahdi (19-0, 15 KOs), from Niagara Falls, Ontario, has gone undefeated since making his professional debut in mid-2019, winning his first 11 fights by knockout. The 31-year-old top contender had unanimous decision wins against Diego Fabian Eligio and Diego Andrade Chavez in 2022 before resuming his knockout streak. In May 2023, Bahdi defeated Jesus Amparan to claim the IBF North American Lightweight title. Bahdi–a top-ranked lightweight by all four of boxing’s major sanctioning bodies–proved himself among the best title contenders in the lightweight division when he scored a sensational knockout win over H2O Sylve on the main card of Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry in July 2024. The finish earned Bahdi 2024 Knockout of the Year recognitions from Boxing Scene, Talksport, Dan Rafael, Yahoo! Uncrowned, and NY Fights. He also earned a decision win over Armando Casamonica on the undercard of MVP’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson in November 2024 before taking home a unanimous decision win over Ryan James Racaza while headlining MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 11 in Toronto in March 2025. He is now scheduled for a 12-round lightweight bout at 135 lbs vs. former WBA world champion Roger “The Kid” Gutierrez (29-6-1, 22 KOs) on the main card of MVP Fight Night at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, FL on Saturday, August 23, with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger to WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
“MVP has been everything I wanted in a promoter and more,” said Lucas Bahdi. “I’m excited to extend my relationship with them starting with my Saturday, August 23rd fight against Roger Gutierrez. I’ve been training harder than ever and can’t wait to put on an explosive performance.”
“Lucas Bahdi shocked the world a year ago with the KO of the year and has been growing his skills and his brand ever since,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “Being undefeated and ranked in the top five globally speaks volumes about his talent and work ethic and we are thrilled to continue being his corner. Saturday, August 23rd is a pivotal moment in Lucas’s career as he faces a former world champion in Gutierrez who himself is coming in fresh off a KO victory. With a dominant performance, the opportunities are endless for Lucas to be in some very big fights. It is up to him to seize the moment, and we believe he will.”
