'I believe I'll stop Murtazaliev' - Kelly makes pre-fight prediction

The two fighters faced off on Tuesday for the first time in fight week.

Backed by young prospects at a Newcastle gym, Kelly was making it an intimidating atmosphere for Murtazaliev as he encouraged those watching on to ramp up the volume. 

This left Kelly in a confident mood who claims he can stop the undefeated IBF light middleweight champion. 

"I believe there will be a shift, especially in him in his belief when he starts getting hit," Kelly told Matchroom Boxing. "He doesn't know where it's coming from, different angles he's never been hit from.

"And there will be a shift and you might not see it, but I'll feel it. And when I feel it, that's when I'll go on top.

"I believe I stop him."

What makes this world title fight is intriguing is whether defending IBF super welterweight champion Murtazaliev can uphold his fearsome reputation despite being inactive for 15 months. 

Murtazaliev has not fought since stopping Tim Tszyu in October 2024, while Kelly has built up his confidence after suffering a brutal loss to David Avanesyan.

Kelly has been adamant that he can knock out Murtazaliev, but if he does opt for this strategy it will be an early night for the Brit. 

Murtazaliev is not affected by going into Kelly's backyard, and he feeds off that evil character energy. With hopes of securing a bout with Jaron Ennis in the near future, Murtazaliev will want to send out a statement. 

Kelly will come flying out the blocks, but the defending champion will break him down, break his confidence and stop 'Pretty Boy' in the second half of the fight.
