Ryan Garcia makes questionable counteroffer to Shakur Stevenson for proposed fight

When Ryan Garcia spoke after capturing the WBC welterweight title on Saturday evening against Mario Barrios, he challenged Ring Magazine and WBO super lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, who was ringside and provided analysis on the fight card for DAZN.

The agreement between the two was that if the fight were ever happen, it would be at 144 pounds with no rehydration clause. Garcia changed his mind and made a questionable offer to Stevenson.

Naturally, Stevenson had no qualms about the request.

Garcia hasn't fought at 140 pounds since facing Devin Haney for the WBC belt in April 2024. But Garcia blew past the weight by 3.2 pounds, coming in at 143.2. In another post, Garcia explains it was always desire to make the trek back down to super lightweight and get a belt there.
