WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson is confident that he will be able to exploit a major flaw in William Zepeda when they go head-to-head tonight.
Taking place at the Louis Armstrong Stadium and exclusively live on DAZN PPV, Stevenson will be looking to make a statement against the undefeated Mexican.
Undefeated in 33 professional fights, with 27 of those wins coming by way of knockout, Zepeda has gained a reputation for being someone with heavy hands and very active inside the ring.
Speaking to DAZN ahead of the opening bell, Stevenson is excited for the challenge Zepeda will bring, but he believes that a drop off in energy from his opponent after the early rounds will put him in a strong position to get the win.
"I see a guy who is going to come in there and he’s going to push me, and bring the best out of me," Stevenson said.
"I feel like he’s going to bring another level to who I am, I can’t wait.
"For the first six he has a heavy pace, but I think for the last six, the pace isn’t the same.
"I think he throws a lot of his punches in the first six rounds."
Featuring on a Ring Magazine card, Stevenson will be looking to silence those who have criticised his routine performances despite being considered one of the world's best pound-for-pound talents.
If Stevenson can steal the show in the Big Apple, it will likely open the door for some major contests down the line.
One could be against Gervonta 'Tank' Davis which Stevenson called "the biggest and best fight in boxing".
