Darren Till will be back in the boxing ring for his third Misfits fight in seven months when he faces former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in Manchester on Saturday night.
Till has already beaten Anthony Taylor and Darren Stewart this year and will be hoping to continue his momentum by picking up another victory this weekend.
But his career resurgence all started with a fight that failed to happen. Till was due to fight ex-Love Island star Tommy Fury in January and a chaotic press conference last November got the juices flowing for the clash.
However, just days later, Fury pulled out and Till had to look for an alternative opponent. Taylor was brought in to replace Fury and Till has never looked back since.
So, is Fury vs Till dead in the water? Or could it be revisited if Till dispatches Rockhold?
Here, we take a look at the rivalry that has built between Fury and Till, and whether they will ever actually meet in the ring.
Till and Fury announced they would be fighting each other at the back end of 2024 and a launch press conference was hastily arranged.
Fury was accompanied by his dad, John, at the top table, but Till was in no mood to be intimidated.
The pair traded verbal blows as Fury vowed to see off another high-profile rival after beating Jake Paul and KSI in his previous two bouts.
Back came Till, who threatened to use his MMA skills to land a head kick on Fury if he was behind in the contest going into the latter rounds.
Fury’s dad took exception to that and proceeded to throw water at Till, sparking a furious response from the ex-UFC contender.
Security quickly stepped in to prevent a mass brawl as the press conference was brought to an abrupt halt.
In the days that followed the press conference, Till repeated his head kick threat on social media as he continued to goad Fury.
Just six weeks out from the scheduled fight night, Fury took the drastic action of pulling out and explained his decision in a statement on Instagram.
The post read: "I can't believe I'm writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on 18 January 2025.
"For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is losing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.
"I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp."
Till was left fuming and branded Fury “shameful” for not following through with the fight.

Till has topped the bill on two Misfits Boxing cards in the aftermath of the Fury dropout and won both bouts in convincing fashion.
Meanwhile, Fury has kept a relatively low profile in 2025. After over 18 months out of the ring due to undergoing hand surgery, Fury returned in May to face the little-known Kenan Hanjalic in Hungary.
Fury cruised to a points victory but was unable to deliver any highlight reel moments.
If his goal was to put on a performance that would get fans excited about potential big-money fights down the line, he came up short.
Almost three months later, Fury does not currently have another fight scheduled.
Fury is always going to be in the public eye. He is the younger brother of former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, and is engaged to Molly-Mae Hague after the pair met on Love Island.
But his boxing career has stalled in recent years. Fury made his professional debut in 2018, but has only fought 11 times in the past seven years.
He does have wins over Jake Paul and KSI on his resume but he has not kicked on since.
On the flip side, Till has been far more active and still seems to have a lot left to offer at the age of 32.
Twelve months ago, it would have been Till who needed the fight more to get his name back up in lights after leaving the UFC following a run of five losses in six bouts.
Now, the tables have turned and Fury is the one who must prove he is still a force to be reckoned with.
It has been almost nine months since Fury opted not to face Till. At the time, he may have been unsure over how seriously Till was taking his venture into boxing.
After all, earlier that year Till’s exhibition bout with Palestine’s Mohammad Mutie had ended in farcical circumstances, with the Brit awarded victory despite appearing to hit his opponent in the back of the head, leading to a brief brawl breaking out.
But Till has since shown he is taking boxing very seriously and that he wants to make his mark on the sport.
There has been no sign of any head kicks in his last two fights. Till overcame a bloodied nose to beat Anthony Taylor in January, and then displayed his power again as he knocked down Darren Stewart twice on his way to a points win four months later.
Fury may now be confident that it would just be a pure boxing match with Till if they ever face each other, and that could convince him to sign on the dotted line again.
Both men have significant followings and the fight would have plenty of crossover appeal. If Till gets his hand raised against Luke Rockhold this weekend, it could be time for him to finally settle his differences with Fury.
