There is clearly no love lost between Darren Till and Luke Rockhold, who had to be physically separated on two occasions during Thursday's press conference ahead of Misfits 22.
Till and Rockhold are the headliners on the Ring of Thrones card, which pits the former UFC fighters against each other in the boxing ring.
For Till, Saturday's bout represents an opportunity to further strengthen his reputation as a rising boxing star after back-to-back victories at earlier Misfits events. Meanwhile, Rockhold will be making his pro boxing debut, but that doesn't mean he has been holding back when it comes to the verbal sparring that often proceeds high-profile fights.
It's been quite the opposite, in fact — Till and Rockhold have engaged in a war of words since their fight was announced, and it hit new heights on Thursday with the men sharing a dais along with the rest of the Ring of Thrones competitors.
Given another chance to go face-to-face, the former MMA stars made sure to make their feelings known ahead of the upcoming bout.
"Title challenger," Rockhold said of Till, likely in reference to Till's unsuccessful UFC welterweight title fight against then-champion Tyron Woodley in 2018. "Title challenger because you've never won a big fight.
"Every time you come up, you get put f—ing down just like I'm gonna do."
Till responded by offering to make Saturday's fight an eight-rounder, which he claimed Rockhold was hesitant to do.
"That's fair, so let's do eight rounds," Till said. "You said you would pull out [of] the fight, you didn't even want more money, if it went to eight rounds. You are not ready."
Till attempted to shake Rockhold's hand to confirm the new terms of the fight, but things predictably went sideways the closer the men got to each other. Eventually their confrontation spanned two levels of the multi-tiered stage set-up, requiring several security personnel to restore order.
After the fighters were separated, it was time for the ceremonial face-off, bringing Till and Rockhold together once more. Till continued vocalising his desire for altered terms for the fight, while Rockhold insisted he would "put [Till] down."
As it was moments earlier, several security staff ensured that things didn't get completely out of hand. Still, the fighters managed to get their last words in.
"I run Misfits as well, ask KSI, I run it," Till said. "I'm going to knock you clean out."
"Every fight, Darren," Rockhold said. "Every big fight you get put down, and this ain't no different."
