NHL coaches on the hot seat: Is Craig Berube on the way out of Toronto?

It's hard to imagine that anyone wants to hear they are rumored to be on the verge of getting fired during the holiday season.

But unfortunately, that's the case for a couple of coaches whose teams haven't gotten off to their desired starts.

DAZN News takes a look at three coaches who are on the proverbial hot seat.

Craig Berube — Toronto Maple Leafs

After winning the Atlantic Division last season, the Maple Leafs are currently in the cellar with only 35 points, which also places them near the bottom of the NHL, and have lost back-to-back games.

The Maple Leafs have allowed 113 goals, which is 12th most in the league, and only in the middle of the pack with scoring 108 goals (15th in the NHL). Remember, though, this is Toronto. An Original Six franchise and its fan base expect much better from them.

The rope looks to be short and could be cut off if the Maple Leafs continue this type of play.

Andrew Brunette — Nashville Predators

Brunette is in his third season coaching the Preds. Despite some great talent on the ice, it just hasn't connected to where it matters most, as the team only has 34 points, which ranks near the bottom of the Western Conference and the league.

Ownership is giving Brunette a vote of confidence, but as we know in sports, that doesn't last forever.

Lindy Ruff — Buffalo Sabres

Speculation ramped up on social media about Ruff's job security after the Sabres canned General Manager Kevyn Adams and put Jarmo Kekalainen into the spot. When new GMs get hired, typically, they want to change things up and hire their own people.

The Sabres were off to a rough start, but they have won six games in a row, so for now, Ruff's job appears to be safe. But, if they go on another skid, then don't be surprised if Kekalainen makes a move.
