Rumors had persisted that Zuffa Boxing would be holding its inaugural event on Jan. 23.

On Friday, it was finally made official as Zuffa executive and UFC CEO Dana White announced Friday on "The Stephen A. Smith Show" that junior middleweights Callum Walsh and Carlos Ocampo will headline the show from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

White has been high on Walsh (15-0, 11 KOs) for a number of years. In his last time out, Walsh beat Fernando Vargas Jr. by unanimous decision in a lackluster affair in the co-main event on the Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford card back in September.

Since suffering a first-round knockout at the hands of Tim Tszyu in June 2023, Ocampo (38-3, 26 KOs) has won three consecutive fights against unknowns in his native Mexico. Besides Tszyu, Ocampo's two other losses have to come from former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. and current unified junior welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora.

"When I talk about matchmaking, I'm going to have all these up-and-coming guys," White told Smith. "We have this kid named Ocampo, who is a seasoned veteran. His only losses are in title fights -- three title fight losses. He has more knockouts than Callum has fights. Callum, undefeated, 15-0, and it's the main event. Should be a badass boxing event."
