Josh Allen has a new head coach, and it's a familiar name.

The Buffalo Bills announced on Tuesday that they are promoting Joe Brady from offensive coordinator to head coach. He signed a five-year but financials were undisclosed.

Brady replaces Sean McDermott, who was fired by the Bills after losing to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round 10 days ago. Last week, the Bills let McDermott go after nine seasons with the organization.

The 36-year-old joined McDermott's staff in 2022 as the Bills' quarterback coach. Brady then got promoted to interim offensive coordinator in November 2023 season after the then-offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey was fired. Brady was then promoted to full-time offensive coordinator for the 2024 and 2025 campaigns.

In the 2025 season, the Bills were tied with the Los Angeles Rams in leading the NFL with the most 30-point games (nine). He helped guide Allen to becoming the NFL MVP in 2024, and James Cook won this year's rushing title.
