Iraola all but confirms Semenyo departure from Bournemouth - 'He will be a big miss'

It appears as if Antoine Semenyo has played his final match for Bournemouth.

And what a way to go out.

The Cherries winger scored the winning goal in Bournemouth's 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, capping off a wild evening at the Vitality Stadium that saw the teams trade leads before Semenyo's decisive stoppage-time strike.

Amid swirling rumours that the 26-year-old would be leaving Bournemouth for Manchester City, the dramatic ending to the match served as a likely farewell for the club's biggest star.

"We needed this one, we have been very close in the last games," Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola told BBC Match of the Day. "Football can not every time go to the other side and today was the perfect moment, also for Antoine.

"To play the way he did, the commitment to help in whatever way until the last second. I think football has been fair and given him a lovely moment."

Reflecting on the possibility of losing his attacking center-piece, who now sits third in the Premier League's goalscoring chart, Iraola praised Semenyo for his brilliance this season.

"I think it was, unluckily for us I think it was [Semenyo's last game for Bournemouth]," Iraola said.

"He has been, if not the best, one of the best I have coached. He has improved every single season. He has scored 10 goals in half a season and not even a number nine.

"It is not just the numbers but a lot of things - the physicality, the balls in the air and the defensive things. He will be a big miss."
