The Canadian women's team can qualify for the quarterfinals with a result against Colombia on Friday.

It would add a chapter to an incredible story that dominated the early headlines at Paris 2024, as three Canadian coaches — including head coach Bev Priestman — were suspended in a drone spying scandal that also cost the team six points before a ball was kicked.

While that points deduction is currently in the appeals process, the Canadians are one zero points after two games — both wins — and a victory over Colombia would guarantee them a spot in the knockouts regardless of what happens in the appeal.

Should they make it after starting the group stage at -6 points, it would be a massive comeback for the defending Olympic champions.
