Premier League and Champions League winner Dwight Yorke suggests that Chelsea should pursue Cristiano Ronaldo's signature ahead of the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Ronaldo just completed the 2024-25 season with Al Nassr and is out of contract at the end of next month, creating an opportunity for one of the 32 sides involved in this summer's tournament to make a big splash by signing the 40-year-old superstar.

Yorke, who starred for Ronaldo's former club Manchester United at the turn of the century, believes Chelsea should be the team to bring Ronaldo to the United States.

"Yeah, why would you not? He can still do it," Yorke told gamblingindustrynews.com. "With his ambition and ability, if Chelsea are playing the way that they can and creating for him, he's still an incredible forward. I see no reason not to.

"He's better than what Chelsea have currently got up front there. I can tell you that they're not the greatest team in that number nine position. So I could see why he's linked to that move.

"I don't see any reason why you wouldn't take a punt on it but it’s just a no-brainer. "

According to Gianni Infantino, the possibility of Ronaldo suiting up for the Club World Cup is real, with the FIFA president telling YouTuber iShowSpeed that the Portugal icon "might play" for one of the participating clubs.

"There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup... who knows, who knows," Infantino said during a livestream.

Chelsea have been drawn into Group D of FIFA Club World Cup, alongside Flamengo, Esperance de Tunis and the winner of a May 31 play-in qualifier between LAFC and Club America. The Blues' first match of the tournament is scheduled for June 16 in Atlanta.
