England and Colombia meet Saturday in the quarterfinals of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
It's probably the most surprising of the quarterfinal matches, as Colombia entered the tournament ranked 25th in the world and didn't even qualify for the last Women's World Cup. Regardless, the South American side are one of the final eight teams in the competition, powered by a first-place finish in Group H that included a stunning victory over Germany.
As for England, it's much less of a surprise that the Lionesses have advanced this far. The last two World Cups have seen England finish inside the top four, and the team won Euro 2022 on home soil. The steady rise of the Lionesses on the world stage is something that was expected to continue at this tournament, and now Colombia will be tasked with taking down another European power.
