The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup takes on an all-new format for this year's competition, as 32 of the best teams in the world compete in the USA this summer - and every game is live on DAZN

Not only has the competition been given a brand-new set-up, akin to a World Cup, but officials will also have an additional new feature, as FIFA announced they will wear bodycams during the tournament.

Footage will be made available to broadcasters during matches the competition, as the Club World Cup becomes the first global competition to use the feature.
Speaking about the bodycams, Pierluigi Collina, chairman of the Fifa referees committee, said: "It is a good chance to offer the viewers a new experience, in terms of images taken from a perspective, from an angle of vision which was never offered before."

The MLS has experience in using bodycams on referees but has only been used in Europe on a handful of occasions.

Jarred Gillett became the first referee to wear a bodycam during a Premier League game in Crystal Palace's 4-0 win over Manchester United last year, but the footage was only used in-house by officials. This followed a referee using a bodycam for the first time during a Bundesliga match in February 2024 and then for a match between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in November.

They were also trailed in grassroots football around England last season and expanded in 2024-25 after results showed a decrease in abuse towards officials.

The tournament will also see the first instance of FIFA's new rule on time-wating. With goalkeepers now having to release a ball within eight seconds or be penalised by giving a corner kick to the opposing team.
