Former Aston Villa defender urges club to make Marcus Rashford deal permanent

Marcus Rashford's Aston Villa resurgence has been a big highlight from the second half of the season, yet his future beyond the end of the campaign remains unclear.

The forward has contributed four goals and four assists during his 17 matches for Villa, and his performances have been rewarded with a recall to the England squad.

However, it is still likely that he'll leave Old Trafford next season.

Speaking exclusively to DAZN News, thanks to NewBettingOffers.co.uk, Alan Hutton believes Unai Emery's side should try and make Rashford's stay in Birmingham a permanent one but it may ultimately come down to the player's choice of destination.

"It's something that I would do," Hutton said when asked if he'd sign the 27-year-old.

"I would be more than happy if they were to go and pursue that. I think the rumours were it was around about £40 million. I think at his age, what they've seen so far, for me, I think it's worth it.

"He's been playing with a smile on his face. He's getting assists. He's scoring goals. He just looks happy where he is. And I think Villa are a team that are on the up and to continue that way, they need guys like that to come and be informed.

"I think the big question mark is for him. Is he happy there? Does he see his future there? Because that's ultimately what I think it will come down to. It looks like the Manchester United side of it probably has done, so it will be down to him.

"But I feel that Villa would want to sign him."

Villa will aim to end the season by booking a place in the FA Cup Final and earning a route back into the Champions League with a top-five finish.

Hutton believes they need to continue cleverly adding more quality to the squad if they are to compete both domestically and in Europe.

Adding, "You look at their squad in the early part of the season and even in the Champions League, I thought they'd done really, really well.

"They brought in Asensio, they brought in Malen, Rashford. I think the squad that they've got is strong, but you need that little bit of extra quality if you want to compete at the highest level. Because you know, nowadays you need to rotate your team from time to time.

"I think it was one of the games, possibly the Southampton game, I can't remember exactly but he made a lot of changes, but they were so strong and that was the big thing for me. And to have that moving forward and then add some top-quality players, I think only stands you in good stead for the future."
